MODERN WESTERN AND WILDLIFE ARTIST

"After moving to the West over a decade ago, I have become captivated by the landscape, animals and history that abound here. My artwork is how I engage with this awe-inspiring land. My aim is to capture some of the West's spirit, strength and grace to share with others."

WATCH MY PROCESS

I paint with oils on canvas.  My typical process involves building the painting with the large shapes and general values and colors. I keep my edges soft at this point and focus on creating big brush strokes and interesting mark making.  After I’ve blocked in the painting, I then use mineral spirits to distress the paint, dripping and splattering it on the canvas.  Once the painting is dry, I will go back in for details, hard edges and redefining.  The outcome is a balance of abstraction and rendered details that creates a dreamy, ethereal feel.
